Governor Jack Markell and the Delaware Tourism Office launched the Delaware History Trail, comprised of 36 sites located throughout the state, to showcase the First State’s abundance of historical sites and to educate visitors and residents about Delaware’s place in American history. The Delaware Tourism Office unveiled the new 2012-2014 Official State of Delaware Travel Guide at the I-95 Delaware Welcome Center Travel Plaza. The new, custom-designed Travel Guide highlights First State attractions, events, services, and resources and is chock full of photos and travel tips -- making it a handy point of reference for Delaware visitors. more

The Delaware Tourism Office will launch a photo contest on October 1, 2011, that is open to all amateur and professional photographers. The theme of the photo contest is “Delaware -- A State for all Seasons.” Entries pertaining to seasonal categories (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) will be accepted from October 1, 2011, to February 17, 2012. more

The American Bus Association (ABA) named three annual, prominent events held in Delaware as part of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2012. Nominations were reviewed by a committee of expert tourism industry professionals based on the excellent entertainment value to both tour groups and individual travelers worldwide. more

The State of Delaware fared well despite the onslaught of Hurricane Irene over the weekend. Residual aftereffects of the storm are being addressed by the State’s Rapid Response Team.
