Our state capital, Dover, is home to one of the most beautifully preserved capitol complexes in the nation, captured by the First State Heritage Park. Old New Castle is a charming town to visit with its original cobblestone streets, colonial homes and guided historical tours. And don’t forget the coastal town of Lewes, which tells the story of Delaware’s seafaring past that dates back to the 1600s.

Brandywine Zoo
Delaware's only zoo is conveniently located on the banks of the Brandywine River. Visitors view wild and exotic animals such as majestic Siberian tigers, playful North American river otters, colorful macaws and curious South American tamarin monkeys.

Cooch's Bridge
Scene of the Battle of Cooch's Bridge, Sept. 3, 1777. Only Revolutionary War battle fought in Delaware. Tradition holds that the new 13-star flag, the Stars and Stripes, was first unfurled during action here.

Governor Ross Mansion and Plantation
A restored Italian Villa-style structure circa 1859, featuring a three-story entry tower. Once a 1400-acre plantation, it today consists of 20 acres and features eight unique outbuildings, including a log slave quarter and honeymoon cottage. Docents available for tours. Buses welcome. Group rates. Special events.

Mt. Cuba Center
Former estate of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lammot du Pont Copeland, now a non-profit organization promoting an appreciation for plants native to the Piedmont. Renowned for spectacular spring and fall wildflower displays. Guided tours, reservations required, limited access.

Delaware Agricultural Museum & Village
Explore Delaware's rural past and present through exhibits, events and programs. 'Loockerman Landing' re-creates a 19th century rural village. Events celebrate the rural culture of Delmarva with demonstrations, music and games. Changing exhibits explore changing technologies and the connection between the land and its people.
