The Delaware Tourism Office will host the 2011 Governor's Tourism Conference on March 31, 2011, at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, Delaware. Tourism industry leaders, businesses, and affiliates should pre-register for the conference by March 25. Participants will discover new ways to navigate through industry trends and challenges, win the bidding game, and enhance the Delaware destination brand.
"The Delaware Tourism Conference is a unique opportunity for businesses and professionals throughout the state to learn how they can work together to further develop tourism-related businesses in Delaware," said Governor Jack Markell. "It is also a time to celebrate achievements and recognize individuals, groups, and organizations for their outstanding contributions to Delaware's 1.9 billion dollar tourism industry."
During the 2011 Governor's Tourism Conference, the Governor will present three distinguished awards including the Roy Klein Hall of Fame Award, the Tourism Economic Impact Award, and the Tourism Award of the Year.
This one-day conference will feature powerful sessions lead by nationally renowned guest speakers. A panel of experts in sales and marketing including Chuck Ghoorah, Co-Founder & Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Cvent; Joan Eisenstodt, Chief Strategist of Eisenstodt Associates LLC; and Gus Vonderheide, Vice President of Group Sales, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, North America, will discuss the latest meetings and conventions industry trends and challenges. Dave Sherman, professional speaker and trainer, will conduct a dynamic workshop on how to team up to develop a compelling destination brand, while building individual business results. International sports consultant, Dale Neuburger of TSE Consulting, will share best practices to effectively compete for sporting event bids. The conference will conclude with innovative tips on how breaking the rules can lead to success.
