Dover, Del. (August 31, 2011) - The State of Delaware fared well despite the onslaught of Hurricane Irene over the weekend. Residual aftereffects of the storm are being addressed by the State's Rapid Response Team. Attractions throughout the state, including most coastline towns and resort areas, are back in business and are ready to receive Delaware visitors for the upcoming Labor Day holiday.

"Travel conditions are now back to normal, and vacationers are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the upcoming holiday in the First State. In fact, they're encouraged to bring more friends with them," said Governor Jack Markell. "Delawareans and our visitors acted quickly to protect themselves from the hurricane. We hope they'll act just as quickly to get back to enjoying what our state has to offer and end their summers on a high note at some of our great beaches."

"Delaware visitors fuel the State's economy and their patronage of Delaware's businesses is valued and appreciated," stated Alan Levin, Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office. "It's business as usual in Delaware and we want visitors to come back and enjoy all that Delaware has to offer."

"It's not too late to make plans to visit Delaware during the Labor Day holiday," said Linda Parkowski, Director of Tourism, Delaware Tourism Office. "We are anticipating a strong turnout at the beaches and for coastline attractions. Delaware is also a great destination for tax-free shopping, gaming, and sightseeing at varied attractions located throughout the state."
