Dover, Del. (April 3, 2012) – Over 500 votes were casted and the winner of the Delaware Tourism Office Seasonal Photo Contest is Joe del Tufo for his scenic and engaging photograph of the Caesar Rodney statue in Wilmington, DE entitled "Night Rider." The winning shot and the seasonal finalist photos will be published in the June 2012 issue of Delaware Today® Magazine.
"The Delaware Tourism Office Seasonal Photo Contest has been a cost-effective approach for our office to obtain fresh photography to promote the State of Delaware from the view point of residents and travelers," stated Linda Parkowski, Director of Tourism, Delaware Tourism Office. "During the contest, we relied on the expertise of judges including professional photographers and the public to select their favorite Delaware photo."
"Delaware’s unique landscape and beautiful scenery creates the perfect canvas for professional and aspiring photographers," exclaimed Kevin Fleming, professional photographer. "As a judge for the photo contest, I was very impressed and inspired by the submissions."
"I was excited to hear about the Delaware Tourism photo contest as I have photographed the state for much of the last 10 years," said Joe del Tufo, the winning photographer. "The Caesar Rodney sunrise was one photograph I was hoping would resonate. I had about five minutes to take the shot and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time."
The Delaware Tourism Office Seasonal Photo Contest received over 500 submissions from in-state and out-of-state amateur and professional photographers. A panel of judges including professional photographers Kevin Fleming and Tony Pratt and a representative from Delaware Today® Magazine, Charlie Tomlinson, reviewed the submissions and selected a finalist in each of the four seasonal categories. A public voting process determined the Grand Prize Winner.
