After more than a decade on hold, Delaware's legendary Slam Dunk to the Beach high school basketball tournament is set to roar back into Lewes on Dec. 27-29, 2014. The state’s foremost showcase of national high school basketball talent has a new format and is being organized under the new leadership of the Delaware Sports Commission. For 13 years, Slam Dunk hosted some of the nation’s premier players, including current NBA stars Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and J.J. Redick. “I was fortunate enough to play in the Slam Dunk to the Beach during my senior year at Southwest Atlanta Christian,” said Howard, who played in the tournament in 2003. “The competition on the floor was at a high level and the atmosphere in the gym was electric.”
