Pumpkins Soar in Delaware This Weekend!

World Championship Punkin Chunkin held November 4-6, 2011

The World Championship Punkin Chunkin is one of the most popular weekend events in Delaware and has recently been named by the American Bus Association as one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2012. Attracting over 100,000 people, this three-day event is now featured annually as a holiday special on the Discovery Channel.

Linda Parkowski, Director of Tourism for the State of Delaware, sat down with Frank Shade, President of the Punkin Chunkin Association, for an exclusive interview highlighting the history and uniqueness of this event. During the interview, which can be viewed below, Frank stated that the Punkin Chunkin is special because "where else can you go for less than $10 and spend the entire day in God's green earth, on a thousand acre farmland, watching people have fun and spend it with 100,000 of your newest best friends."

The World Championship Punkin Chunkin will be held November 4-6, 2011, in Bridgeville, Delaware. For three days, engineers--both serious and home grown--will bring their huge catapulting contraptions to Delaware and give it all they've got to chunk 8 to 10 pound pumpkins as far as they can go. To purchase tickets online, please visit http://www.punkinchunkin.com/tickets.

Can't wait to chunk?  Hurl yourself to Delaware and join the celebration and fun of outdoor festivities, games, live entertainment, vendors, artisans and crafts, unique fare, and cooking contests!
