Walking Tour: Women of The Green at First State Heritage Park

Lantern Tours at Delaware Seashore State Park

Begins at 7:00 p.m.
Learn about the hard work and perils the surfmen of the U.S. Life-Saving Service faced to save shipwreck victims off the Delaware coast. Enjoy a unique, guided lantern tour of the circa-1876 Indian River Life-Saving Station museum with an interpreter in turn-of-the-century Life-Saving Service patrol garb. Then walk the same beach where the surfmen performed their nightly patrols more than 100 years ago, scanning the waters for signs of ships in distress. Dress for the weather! "The Farndale...Christmas Carol!”

Back by popular demand, the strangely compelling and compellingly strange presentation of the Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” by the hardy troupers of the Dramatic Society, who will strive to overcome every obstacle - and there will be many - to present a more than slightly twisted version of the Yuletide standard. New Castle's  Amstel House will be decorated for a traditional holiday celebration in colonial times, showing off a "dessert board" of the period, and featuring traditional 18th-century customs during the period of Governor Nicholas VanDyke's residency.  At the Dutch House, experience a celebration of St. Nichols' Eve, a tribute to the legend of Saint Nicholas, Dutch patron saint.
