As streams of people flowed into The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware for the Firefly Music Festival, everywhere you turned there was something new and exciting to experience. From the moment, you walked under the Firefly welcome banner, it’s as if you are transported into a realm of great music in your own backyard!
Rain or shine this crowd was here for what a fellow-festival goer said was something that “Delaware has never seen before.” People from all ages gathered around to hear sets from Ok go, John Legend, Silversun Pickups, Jack White and much more!
We met people from Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania, who couldn’t believe that within a few hours drive to Delaware that were able to witness music history! Even the lead singer of Ok Go, gave kudos to Delaware for being the First State.
The Brewery was one of the most popular tents with delicious and one-of-a-kind locally brewed Dogfish Head beer, including the Firefly Ale. The group of guys behind us in line from Washington D.C. said “Dogfish is our favorite, we haven’t been able to find Namaste for a few weeks and now here it is, while we listen to some of the best bands in the nation.”
So, Day 1 is now complete. Tomorrow will bring new bands, friends and memories.
Suggestions for our Firefly comrades:
Remember to bring your own or purchase a Firefly water canister.
Pack your bag with ponchos, bug spray and a phone charger.
Check out the brewery and try some new brews!
Take tons of pics and use the #Fireflylive tag.
Special thanks to the staff and volunteers for a great day. See ya tomorrow!
