Events Around Delaware for the Weekend of 01/04/13 to 01/06/13

This weekend is the last chance to see gorgeous DuPont estates lavishly decorated for the holiday season at Christmas at Hagley or Yuletide at Winterthur: A Fest for the Eyes.

Discover Delaware by following one of our three exciting statewide trails!

Delaware Geocaching Trail

Embark on a statewide adventure using GPS technology to find hidden cache sites at historic and cultural attractions, state parks, wineries, breweries, and sports venues.

Delaware History Trail
Comprised of 36 significant historic sites, visitors can receive a commemorative book for completing the trail entitled, "Landmarks and Legacies," a colorful narrative highlighting historic places and fascinating people representing the very fabric of the First State.

Delaware Wine and Ale Trail
This trail is a unique collection of thirteen local wineries and breweries featuring award-winning wines and craft brews. Visit for a tour, a tasting and a memorable experience!

First Saturdays in the First State
Saturday, January 5, 2013

Celebrate National Bird Day at the Delaware Museum of Natural History
Saturday, January 5, 2013
9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Delaware Museum of Natural History has one of the largest collections of birds and bird eggs (2nd largest) in the country and is a leading resource for ornithologists and amateur birders alike. Enjoy a "Book in the Nook," experience an owl pellet dissection in our Science in Action Lab and learn more about birds found in your neighborhood.

Beachcombing at the Delaware Seashore State Park
Saturday, January 5, 2013
Begins at 10:00 a.m.
Stroll along Delaware Seashore State Park looking for seashells, egg cases, and other signs of marine and beach life. Winter storms wash up a treasure trove of objects not typically seen during the mild summer months so it’s worth bundling up and venturing out for a bit!
