Punkin ChunkinWorld Championship Punkin Chunkin

The World Championship Punkin Chunkin is an annual competition for throwing pumpkins using catapults, air cannons and much more! The Punkin Chunkin Championship draws thousands of visitors to the area and is aired on the Discovery Channel every Thanksgiving. Hotel rooms are available in Milford, Georgetown, Seaford and the beach resort area.

Join the seasoned investigators from Delaware's most experienced paranormal investigative team, Delmarva Historic Haunts, for an introductory class to learn the methods they use when looking for paranormal activity at a house or site that reports strange occurrences! You'll learn about the devices and techniques used during an investigation, and tour Old New Castle's most haunted mansion - the Amstel House! Then you can join the team the next night, Saturday, for an extended public investigation in Old New Castle!

Go Ape at Lums Pond State Park!

Four zip lines take you high over Lums Pond, the largest freshwater pond in Delaware.  Overall there are 5 individual sections within the course - rope ladders, 42 exciting crossings including Double Stirrups, and stunning views that take you higher into the forest canopy. Please note there is an entry fee for the Park - $3 for DE registered vehicles & $6 for out-of-state vehicles. Reserve the Go Ape treetop adventure online.

Leave the 21st century behind at the First State Heritage Park 18th Century Market Fair, which recreates the sights and sounds of the autumn market fairs held on The Green in Dover in the mid-1700s. Watch demonstrations of traditional trades and crafts like pottery, woodworking, blacksmithing and spinning. 18th-century-style music and dancers add to the period atmosphere. Vendors and refreshments round out the day. Enjoy free fun for all ages –all with an 18th-century twist! Rain or shine.

Autumn Leaf Special on the Wilmington and Western Railroad (Final weekend)

Travel the Wilmington and Western Railroad for their "Autumn Leaf Special" ride on a steam or diesel powered locomotive. Enjoy the splendor of the season, with 1 ½-hour round-trips to the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove, or 2 ½-hour round-trips to Hockessin. Make sure to bring your camera!
