Costumes of Downton Abbey® at Winterthur Museum
March 21, 2014 – March 23, 2014
“Costumes of Downton Abbey” is an original exhibition of exquisite designs from the award-winning television series. Approximately 35 historically accurate costumes from the television show will be displayed with photographs and vignettes inspired by the fictional program and by real life at Winterthur. Visitors will have a chance to step into and experience the world of Downton Abbey® and the contrasting world of Winterthur founder Henry Francis du Pont and his contemporaries in the first half of the 20th century. Timed tickets for the exhibit are required.

Sunset Hike at Burton Island – Delaware Seashore State Park

Delaware Seashore State Park invites the public to the Burton Island Sunset Hike. This guided hike will take participants through one of the park's most picturesque areas to take in the sights as the sun sets over the Indian River Bay. Pre-registration is required.

Wilmington & Western Railroad's Hockessin Art Festival

Each year, over 25 artists display and sell limited edition prints, original watercolors, oils, acrylics, pastels, sculptures and carvings. While at the Art Festival, take a break from shopping by riding the "Festival Express." Our vintage 1929 Pennsylvania Railroad railcar will depart from outside the Festival for a 40 minute round-trip through the towns of Yorklyn and Ashland. Departure times are every hour on the hour from 11-3 Saturday and 12-3 Sunday. No advance ticket sales.

Sampler Sundays at Hagley Museum

On Sundays in February and March, visitors can get a taste of Hagley for only $5. They will get to discover – the beautiful Brandywine, the historic powder yards, the first du Pont family home in America, the worker’s world, and the Belin House Organic Café. Guests can chose to experience the powder yard and the worker community or take a guided tour of the du Pont residence. Tours of the residence will be in small groups, and guests will be given timed tickets for their tour.

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Tour

An Illegal Activity: The Underground Railroad in Delaware – at First State Heritage Park
Friday - Sunday,
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Friday), 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Saturday), 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Sunday)
The exhibit explores the First State's role in the pre-Civil War network of secret routes and safe houses used by black slaves in the United States to escape to free states and Canada with the aid of abolitionists and allies who were sympathetic to their cause. Focusing on two Delawareans who played important roles in this illegal and clandestine enterprise-Samuel D. Burris and Thomas Garrett.

Forest hayrides at Trap Pond State Park

Begins at 3:00 p.m.
Tour the forest and fields of Trap Pond State Park in a rustic hay wagon, then relax by the campfire and enjoy hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows. Pre-registration is required by calling the park office. Price is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.
