First Weekend: Lewes Architecture Tour

Lewes has multiple different architectural styles and building eras.  This 60-minute tour includes an introduction of the historic district and various stylistic elements, with an emphasis on the Victorian era and the homes of some of the important historic personalities and families of Lewes’s past. This tour is $10 per person. Members, students with ID cards, and children under 12 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Zwaanendael Club Museum Store, Ryves Holt House or at 302-645-7670.  Tours leave from the Ryves Holt House located at the corner of Second & Mulberry Streets in historic Lewes.

Daffodil Day

Henry Francis du Pont used his collector’s eye in assembling hundreds of heirloom daffodil bulbs arranged in cloud-like drifts on Winterthur’s Sycamore Hill. Daffodil Day events will include special tours, kids’ crafts, and a children’s daffodil show. Members free. Included with admission. Daffodil Afternoon Tea Buffet is at 3:00 PM in the Visitor Center Cafe.

Auburn Heights Preserve Open House

Tour the Auburn Heights Mansion and the Marshall Steam Museum. The mansion is the former home of the Marshall family who furnished it with the antiques you will find there today. The tour includes the two main floors of the mansion. Please note that there are steps to get into the mansion and one flight of stairs during the tour. The Marshall Steam Museum houses the world’s largest collection of operating steam cars. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes. $8 for adults, $4 for kids for the mansion; $8 per person for the museum Please note: If there is inclement weather on the day of the program, please check Facebook.com/AuburnHts or destateparks.com/AuburnHts for a program update. If severe weather forces state offices to be closed, the programs will be cancelled for that day.

Hagley Museum Walking Tour Series

Explore Hagley Museum in a new way by joining us for one of our six walking tours. One or more Themed tours are offered most weekends. Now in its fourth year, the Coastal Camera Club’s Photo Beach Bash 2016 “Learn. Imagine. Create.” is a full day of photography programs and more. This year’s Bash includes a keynote address by Eddie Tapp, a Canon Explorer of Light, and programs by Ed Heaton, a landscape master; Mollie Isaacs, who specializes in nature and macro photography; and Joe Brady, a photographer, educator, author, photo workshop leader and studio owner. And if this isn't enough, there will be many other activities, including an opportunity to have your images critiqued, an exhibition of award winning photographs, vendors and more.
