“Hereafter, in a better world than this…” Cousins Rosalind and Celia escape from their kingdom to live in exile in the Forest of Arden, where they learn about life and love and the complexities of each, far away from the comforts of home, as Delaware Shakespeare presents AS YOU LIKE IT, one of the Bard’s most cherished romantic comedies. The cast of AS YOU LIKE IT It includes four actors who appeared in the 2016 Delaware Shakespeare Community Tour production of PERICLES – Trevor Fayle, J Hernandez, Danielle Leneé and Bi Jean Ngo – alongside Adam Altman, Jeffrey Cousar, Merri Rashoyan and three-time Barrymore award winner Liz Filios. AS YOU LIKE IT features original music composed and performed by Delaware musician Joe Trainor and sculptural set pieces created by University of Delaware professor David Meyer. AS YOU LIKE IT is directed by Madeline Sayet, a 2016 TED Fellow and a recipient of The White House Champion of Change Award from President Barack Obama. She was the resident director at Amerinda (American Indian Artists) Inc. in New York from 2012-2016 where she developed new plays by Native American playwrights and launched the Native American Shakespeare Ensemble. This Delaware Shakespeare Community Tour brings professional theater to underserved audiences in nontraditional venues throughout the region, including homeless shelters, correctional facilities and community centers, and concludes with a weekend of performances at OperaDelaware Studios.
