Family Programs The Brandywine Zoo also regularly offers programs for the whole family for a variety of age groups year round with the exception of the summer months. Family programs include: Pint Sized Planeteers The Brandywine Zoo offers programs specially designed for children 18 months to 6 years old. These fun-filled frolics into the animal world may include a story, a live animal visit, and a craft. All children must be accompanied by an adult. One adult is admitted free for each participating child. Programs are held in the Education Building. Space is limited, so pre-registration is strongly suggested. (Fee: $8 per child; $6 per child for Delaware Zoological Society.) Summer Sunday Explorers Age 18 months - 6 years Kids, bring your adult(s) for a leisurely Sunday afternoon exploring the animals at the Brandywine Zoo. Each session will focus on a different animal or habitat. The program will include a craft, topic related activity, live animal presentation, and a walk through the zoo. One adult is admitted free for each participating child. Programs begin in the Education Building. Walk-ins are welcome, if space is available. (Fee: $6.00 per person; $4.00 per person Zoo Members. Space is limited, so pre-registration is strongly suggested.) Junior Zoo Naturalists Age 7-13 yrs Kids, do you want to learn more about animals and the world around us? These programs, specially designed for kids ages 7-13, are designed to challenge your brain and your investigative spirit! Discover animals, conservation and recreation all in one! Programs begin in the Education Building and include a pizza lunch, a zoo tour, outdoor activities, and more! Dress for the weather. Parents can drop off and pick up their children at the Education Building. (Fee: $20 per child; $15 per child for Delaware Zoological Society Members.) Senior Safari and Bingo September 9 & 30, October 21, November 10 and December 1: 10:00am - 12:00pm Senior Adults For those that are young at heart, enjoy this special event at the zoo designed just for seniors! The day will include live animal encounters, light refreshments and a rousing game of BINGO, zoo style! Registration is strongly suggested, walk-in's welcome if space is available. (Fee: $6 per person/$4 per Delaware Zoological Society Member.) Book Club & Potluck Thursday, October 8: 6:00pm - 8:30pm Delaware Zoological Society Members Only, Teens & Adults Join Zoo Staff, Volunteers, and Animal Lovers as we discuss the book "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein. Pre-registration required, program meets in the Education Building. (Fee: Delaware Zoological Society only, FREE.) Scout Day - An Event for Boys and Girls! Enjoy a morning at the zoo designed for scouts and their families! Registered participants for this program get to enjoy special early admission to the zoo before it opens to the public! Enjoy a morning of games, crafts, and activities all geared toward scout requirements. Brandywine Zoo patches will be available for purchase. This is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather. Special Events For all ages All Special Events take place in the zoo, unless otherwise indicated. Special Events are held at the Brandywine Zoo on a regular basis.
