The First State Heritage Park will add a new public tour to its roster of monthly First Saturday events. The final stage of the recent Kent County Courthouse construction project was the restoration of the original portion of the Courthouse on The Green including its historic Courtroom #1, both of which date back to 1874. The history of Dover is closely tied to the history of Delaware’s courts, and to William Penn’s 1683 establishment of Dover as the site for these courts to meet. Visitors to First State Heritage Park will be able to tour this beautifully restored historic site while hearing stories of the notable judges depicted in paintings displayed in the courtroom and learning more about the history of Delaware’s judicial system. These free tours will begin at the John Bell House on The Green beginning at 1:30 p.m. The last tour leaves at 4:00 p.m.
