The Claymont Steak Shop has been a Delaware tradition serving quality since 1966. From the original shop in Claymont to the newer shop in Newark, Delawareans have been flocking to Delaware’s worst kept secret, the famous Claymont Cheesesteak. The meat is so thinly sliced, it chews like butter. Claymont only uses the freshest ingredients. As they slice their own steak, they use only the highest quality rib-eye, which is normally seen piled high on the grill when you venture into the shop. Claymont is the winner of numerous awards, including Best of Delaware and the News Journal’s Reader’s Choice Award for several years running. It is the only cheesesteak shop in Delaware listed in the Great Philly Cheesesteak Book, a comprehensive guidebook to cheesesteaks, and has the noble distinction of the author calling it her personal favorite cheesesteak.
