The du Pont family came to America on the ship “American Eagle," the DuPont Company's first product was Eagle Gun Powder, and decorative arts collected by Mrs. Louise du Pont Crowninshield were adorned with eagles, a common symbolic element in Federal-style furnishings. Winterthur’s major new exhibition, Uncorked! Wine, Objects & Tradition, is a joyous celebration of objects and imagery created in response to society’s love of wine. Featuring more than 300 objects, Uncorked! explores how wine was marketed, consumed, and enjoyed in America and Britain from the 1600s through the 1800s. A wide range of materials are represented, from wine bottles, decanters, and cellarettes to lead figures of Bacchus and “Champagne Charlie” song sheets.… More

Join a Delaware Seashore State Park naturalist for an interesting program that will include learning how to identify osprey, how they hunt fish, and how they raise their young. Participants will observe osprey-nesting areas on Rehoboth Bay and, with luck, watch them soar and feed their young. More

Learn how to make a simple wire-wrap pendant with sea glass. Use it as the perfect gift for the holidays or as a personal, handmade piece of jewelry. Wire, tools and basic instruction will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring found pieces of sea glass, however sea glass can be provided. Pre-registration is required. More
