Join park naturalists as they enjoy watching ospreys, herons, and egrets, nesting gulls, diamondback terrapins and other marine life. Participants will receive basic instruction on kayaking skills and safety. All boating equipment is provided. Visitors will need to bring a supply of drinking water, wear close-toed shoes, clothes that are able to get wet, sunglasses and sunscreen. You must be 13 years of age or older to participate. More

Museum interpreters dressed in period uniform will re-enact the firing of the Lyle Gun, used in Breeches Buoy rescue to bring sailors from a shipwreck to shore. This is the type of gun the surfmen of the Indian River Life-Saving Station would fire routinely on the same beaches over one hundred years ago. More

Thirty years after first frequenting the Back Porch Café as an aspiring artist, Pamella Bounds-Seemans will exhibit new paintings at the Rehoboth Beach restaurant from Friday, July 20 to Aug. 15. Bounds-Seemans, born and raised in Milton, is known for her acrylic paintings surrounded by a collage border and hand-painted frame. Her latest series, ‘Reminiscences of Gaudi,’ will feature local scenes, flowers, and beach images reinterpreted in her one-of-a-kind whimsical style.… More

Take a walk along the beach in search of the elusive crustaceans of the night, the Ghost Crab. Bring a flashlight to assist you in spotting them as they scurry from side to side over the sand and on the beach in search of their evening meal. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather of the evening. Pre-registration is required. More

The image of the eagle has been an important icon in the history of the du Pont family. The du Pont family came to America on the ship “American Eagle," the DuPont Company's first product was Eagle Gun Powder, and decorative arts collected by Mrs. Louise du Pont Crowninshield were adorned with eagles, a common symbolic element in Federal-style furnishings.
