You are invited to take a step back in timefor an evening lantern tour of the museum. Led by an interpreter dressed in the uniform of the turn-of-the-century Life Saving Service patrol, the tour will detail the courage and hardship the surfment endured as they patrolled the beaches every night. The program ends with a nighttime trip to the beach for a patrol with lanterns. Participants should dress for the weather. More

These woven rope bracelets have been worn by mariners for ages, including the surfmen of the U.S. Life-Saving Service. Staff from the Delaware Seashore Park will provide ropse and instructions for you to make your own! Pre-registration is required. More

The image of the eagle has been an important icon in the history of the du Pont family. The du Pont family came to America on the ship “American Eagle," the DuPont Company's first product was Eagle Gun Powder, and decorative arts collected by Mrs. Louise du Pont Crowninshield were adorned with eagles, a common symbolic element in Federal-style furnishings.
