Fall Festivals in Delaware 2014

As autumn approaches the Southern Delaware beaches and begins to add splashes of crimson and gold to the northern hills, summer’s end seems to inspire a sense of celebration, bringing a bumper crop of fun Delaware fall festivals.

Delaware Wine and Beer Festival

Some fall events in Delaware keep a focus on the food and feel of fall. The delicious samplings of the Delaware Wine and Beer Festival – voted one of America’s Top Festivals in 2013 – is the only fest in Delaware that offers all of the state’s vintners, brewers and distillers at one event.

Others adopt a quirkier take on the season: At the Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddler’s Festival, kids and adults alike embrace their inner child with costumes and games. At Wilmington’s Fringe Festival, artists of all creative disciplines get an opportunity to explore the outer edges of their craft. And at the Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest, old-country German food and fun things to do draw thousands each day.

In and around the Southern Delaware beaches, weekends are especially full of family-friendly fall festival fun and affordable things to do. The Freeman Stage at Bayside hosts its free Arts & Jazz Festival featuring top acts in mid-September. There are kid-friendly activities, a craft show and sidewalk sale -- plus free boat rides and plenty of

Rehooboth Beach Jazz Festival

nautical fun -- at the Boast the Coast Maritime Festival in Lewes. The Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival is a great way to catch cool music in a cool seaside town full of shopping and dining temptations.

The fall fun rolls on as you work your way north. The Wings & Wheels Fall Festival in quaint Georgetown features a “Fly In” of vintage planes, a huge classic car show and plenty of food and music. In nearby Bridgeville, the Apple Scrapple Festival simultaneously pays tribute to fall’s favorite fruit and Delaware’s top breakfast treat with three days of activities.

Fall’s also a great time for sampling the delicious handcrafted beers of Delaware’s breweries, which also feature prominently on the Delaware Wine and Ale Trail.

Have fun this fall! See you in Delaware someday soon!
