How to get to the Firefly Music Festival

Delaware MapI-495 Bridge Closure Travel Tip: During the I-495 bridge closure, find alternate travel routes on the Delaware Tourism blog. For travelers coming from the north, it is suggested to use I-295 or the New Jersey Turnpike southbound to the Delaware Memorial Bridge, continue on I295 in Delaware to I95 south to DE1 south to Dover. DelDOT recommends timing your trip to avoid the morning (7:00-9:00AM) and evening (4:00 to 7:00PM) peak travel times.

Real time traffic conditions and travel times will be available on WTMC 1380 AM; at www.map.DelDOT.gov; and on the DelDOT Smartphone App, free for download at Google Play and the Apple App Store. Travelers can also follow Firefly, DelDot and Delaware Tourism on Twitter for updates.

Travel Routes to the Firefly Music Festival 2014:
From the North:
Campers and RVs
DE Route 1 southbound to Exit 95 to Dover. Then, head north on U.S. Route 13 to camping check-in point.

Daily Festival (Day trippers)
DE Route 1 southbound to Exit 95. Then, head north on U.S. Route 13 to the Dover International Speedway (Dover Downs) main entrance.

NOTE: Should delays become excessive for southbound U.S. Route 13 traffic, DelDOT may elect to close Exit 104 southbound ramp and direct vehicles south to Exit 95 to come north on U.S. Route 13.


From the South:
Campers and RVs
DE Route 1 north to Exit 95/DE Route 10 to Bay Road, to U.S. Route 13 north, to a right turn at Jefferic Boulevard to Check-in point (Lot 1).

Daily Festival (Day trippers)
DE Route 1 north to Exit 95 Dover, to Bay Road, to U.S. Route 13 north, to a right turn at Dover International Speedway Main Entrance.


From the West:
Campers and RVs
DE Route 8 eastbound left turn on U.S. Route 13 North, to a right turn at Jefferic Boulevard to Check-in point (Lot 1).

DE Route 8 eastbound left turn on U.S. Route 13 North, to a right turn at Dover International Speedway Main Entrance.


Parking at Firefly:
Parking at Firefly is easy and free! Parking takes place on-site at Dover International Speedway, a short walk from the festival entrance.

Accessible parking is available for those with a verified ADA placard or license plate.  The person to whom the placard or plate is issued must be present in the vehicle, as a driver or passenger. If you have a condition that may limit your mobility, please speak to your physician to obtain the appropriate documentation.  VIPs get preferred parking! Visit the Firefly Music Festival website to purchase a VIP wristband. 

General Firefly Music Festival and Delaware Travel information:
The Firefly Music Festival is located within driving distance to major metropolitan areas and airports on the East Coast, including Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and New York City. Frontier Airlines offers non-stop service to and from Delaware at the Wilmington Philadelphia Airport, which is about a 40-50 minute drive to the festival. On-site car rental service and taxis are available at the airport.

Travelers can take advantage of Amtrak service to Wilmington, Delaware as well as SEPTA and Greyhound bus line service. If you're traveling from or around south Jersey try the Cape May-Lewes Ferry as a foot or vehicle passenger. Travel tip: Firefly Music Festival fans should plan on arriving early and staying late to beat the crowd. Depending on the length of your drive, booking a hotel room may be advisable but, book early. If hotels in Dover are sold out, try searching for accommodations in the surrounding area for additional overnight options such as; Milford, Smyrna, Newark, Georgetown, etc. If you're traveling on Saturday or Sunday, please be aware that mid mornings and early afternoons are peak traffic times due to beach vacation rental check ins.
