Dover, Del. (April 8, 2011) - The Delaware Sports Commission (DSC) has developed the first Delaware Sports Facility Guide to be used as a marketing tool with sports event rights holders (planners of sporting events) to attract youth, amateur and professional sports competitions and events to Delaware.  This comprehensive guide provides sports event planners with an overview of Delaware's premier sports facilities suitable for sporting events of all types and sizes.  The Guide is a great resource for sports event rights holders to discover all that Delaware has to offer in sports facilities, state parks, accommodations, attractions, and resources.

"The Delaware Sports Commission strives to provide excellence in service and assists sports event rights holders in finding the most fitting venues and accommodations to ensure successful events," said

Matthew Sparks, Executive Director of the Delaware Sports Commission.  "The Delaware Sports Facility Guide is the first of its kind for the First State, which highlights Delaware's capacity to host regional and national championships at all levels of competition."

Sports event planners may request a Delaware Sports Facility Guide by contacting Matthew Sparks at or (302) 672-6832.

The Delaware Sports Commission, a not-for-profit organization, was established to attract large and small sporting events to Delaware to benefit the sports industry and community and to positively impact Delaware's economy.  The Delaware Sports Commission also assists with the retention and growth of existing sports events.  To date, the DSC has partnered with close to a dozen regional and national events, paving the way for larger scale future events to be held in Delaware.

The Delaware Sports Commission, 99 Kings Highway in Dover, Del., promotes and recruits single-day and multi-day regional and national events. For more information, visit the official Delaware Sports Commission website at or call (302) 672-6832.
