Own a piece of Delaware history, signed by the team that made it
Dover, Del. (July 19, 2012) – The creative forces that combined their knowledge of Delaware history and talents for storytelling and photography will come together for a second time on Aug. 3 to sign copies of their book, "Landmarks & Legacies," which spotlights 50 noteworthy sites throughout the First State.
Historian Russ McCabe, writer Pam George and photographer Kevin Fleming will be on hand to sign copies of the book at the event, which will take place at Kevin Fleming & Friends Delaware Art Gallery, 239 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase for $25 at the Aug. 3 book signing.
The Delaware History Trail tells the stories of early settlers and Native Americans and showcases the state as a cradle for inventiveness, artistry and ingenuity and a forerunner in both the Industrial and Agricultural revolutions. Those who fill out a passport and visit at least six trail sites in each of the state’s three counties will receive a copy of the book, which also includes a Forward by Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., a life-long Delaware resident.
Now that "Landmarks & Legacies" has been released and can also be purchased at the Delaware Tourism Office’s e-Store, visitors can experience the Delaware History Trail in advance and handpick which sites they’d like to see, Tourism Director Linda Parkowski said.
"The vivid photos, rich stories and Russ’ intense research provide a veritable how-to guide for the trail, which increases visitation and brings tourism dollars to the state," Parkowski said.
Once the idea for the book was decided on last summer, McCabe planted the seeds by using his encyclopedic knowledge of First State history to choose the sites.
