Delaware showcased at Maryland Motorcoach Association

The formula is a familiar one: Once travelers see all that Delaware has to offer, they are destined to become repeat visitors. And once the tour operators from the Maryland Motorcoach Association got to see and meet with the state's discoveries, they became even more excited about planning trips to Delaware.

It all happened in March, when tour group leaders and operators were invited to Dover Downs Hotel and Casino for the MMA Group Travel Leader Showcase. There, they got a chance to acquaint themselves with 400 buyers and 190 suppliers, making their way through a row of booths and displays that highlighted Delaware attractions, coordinated by the Delaware Tourism Office (DTO). Giveaways and food-and-beverage samplings kept the energy flowing.

2019 MMA Conference Dover Downs

After the conference, the group tour professionals filled a pair of buses that rumbled off on state-wide familiarization tours showcasing Delaware’s top attractions, supplemented at many locations by step-on speakers who gave participants the inside scoop.

“It was the best day ever!,” said Lynn Komin of Superior Tours (Baltimore, MD). “It was my first trip to Dover Downs and I loved it—I had a delicious lunch and even won a jackpot!

Shannon Naff of Hubers Bus Service, Inc. (Glen Burnie, MD) also was convinced. “After our tour was complete I was positive that Delaware was the place to be, not just for fun activities but educational ones as well,” she said. “I look forward to bringing my customers to the area soon!!”

Thank you to MMA, Dover Downs Hotel and Casino and the statewide partners who worked with DTO to make the conference, Delaware showcase and state-wide familiarization tour a success!
