(January 12, 2012) - Once again, the Delaware Tourism Office made its presence known at the annual American Bus Association (ABA) Convention, this year, held in Grapevine, Texas. As the nation's premier motorcoach industry event, the convention attracts over 3,000 group tour affiliates and provides a forum for buyers and sellers to meet in a marketplace setting. The Delaware Tourism Office showcased Delaware's diverse offerings at the bustling marketplace and hosted a breakfast event for over 400 group tour operators along with primary co-sponsors, the Dover International Speedway and the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, and secondary co-sponsor, the Rehoboth Tanger® Outlet Center. Since three of Delaware's festivals were recognized as one of the ABA's Top 100 Events in 2012, this year's breakfast highlighted Delaware's abundant variety of festivals.

"The Tourism industry plays a primary role in Delaware's economy," said Governor Jack Markell. With its affordability, central location, and convenient access, Delaware is an ideal travel destination for group tours. The First State's unique festivals are a popular draw for travelers and also represent cherished, traditional pastimes for Delaware residents."

"The Tourism industry grew 30 percent in Delaware since 2007, and the outlook looks promising for continued growth," stated Alan Levin, Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office. "Attractions, small businesses, and local communities in Delaware will profit by increased group tour visitation."

"The Delaware Tourism Office is sales driven and focused on specific market segments to attract large volumes of out-of-state visitors to Delaware," said Linda Parkowski. "We are committed to enhancing the visitor's experience and have established an online Delaware Motorcoach Rewards Program to incite more group tour visits and show our appreciation to visitors and group tour planners."

The Delaware Motorcoach Rewards Program is offered to tour and travel professionals planning a Delaware group tour experience consisting of more than fifteen (15) members, spending at least one (1) night in a Delaware lodging establishment, and visiting at least one (1) Delaware attraction.
