Win a glass fit for the First State's finest beer and wine
Choice of beer mug or wine glass is the prize for completing Delaware Wine and Ale Trail
Dover, Del. (Aug. 8, 2012) – From full-bodied brews to lively vintages, the First State is flowing with high-quality adult beverages, many of which have been bundled together on the Delaware Wine and Ale Trail.
Now there’s an incentive for sampling some of Delaware’s finest spirits: Those who fill out a passport and visit eight of the 12 trail sites will receive their choice of an elegant wine glass or 17-ounce Tankard beer mug.
"The trail invites both the connoisseur and the curious to sample award-winning beers and wines at Delaware’s top-notch breweries and wineries," said Delaware Tourism Director Linda Parkowski. "Enjoy a few drinks from the First State and receive a limited-edition prize for doing it."
Other enhancements to the Delaware Wine and Ale Trail include signs at each site featuring MS tags that, when scanned with a mobile ap, connect visitors with a feedback site at the Delaware Tourism Office’s website, where comments and photos can be posted and shared.
The Delaware Tourism Office also responded to Wine and Ale Trail travelers who commented that they were looking for establishments that served Delaware wines and beers by adding a Delaware Wine and Ale Trail Dining section to its website. The portal boasts a list of restaurants catering to the beer or wine aficionado.
Like the Delaware History Trail and the Delaware Geocaching Trail, the Delaware Wine and Ale Trail has boosted awareness and attendance for its members while also increasing visitation to the First State.
"The trail model offers visitors one-stop tourism shopping," Parkowski said. "They can plan their entire stay by stringing together sites on one of our trails."
Delaware Wine and Ale Trail locations include: 16 Mile Brewing Company, Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Fenwick Wine Cellars, Fordham Brewing Company, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant/Newark, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant/Wilmington, Nassau Valley Vineyards, Old Dominion Brewing, Pizzadilli Vineyard & Winery, Stewart's Brewing Company and Twin Lakes Brewing Company.
