It has been a beautiful summer for sports in Delaware – not just because the weather was good and kids could play outside, but because the state had multiple major wins in the world of sports tourism.

After years of work with the Maryland Sports Commission, the Delaware Sports Commission was excited to announce the United States Equestrian Federation had named Fair Hill International in Elkton the home of the prestigious Fall 2019 CCI4* Event. The extensive selection process included Delaware due to the close proximity of the state to the facility. Newark has convenient access to hotels and restaurants and will be a major boon for the area.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference will be hosting its 3rd annual Division III Football Fest at the University of Delaware, November 17-19, 2017. Over the three day span, top-rated ECAC DIII football teams will go head-to-head in a series of bowl games after which six champions will be crowned.

US Lacrosse officially name DE Turf as the home of the 10th annual US Lacrosse Nationals. With support from the Delaware Sports Commission, the complex won the bid to host the youth tournament set for August 2-5, 2018. The event will generate approximately 4,800 room nights.

And there are just five months until tip off for Slam Dunk to the Beach. Planning for the annual basketball competition in Lewes is on track and going well. For more information on becoming an event sponsor, email
