With Black Friday just around the corner, it’s time to start planning the ultimate tax-free holiday shopping extravaganza. Start by making a list and checking it twice. Use the guide below to plan out your adventure.

Breakfast: Northern Delaware’s earliest riser is Einstein Bros. Bagels in Wilmington, opening at 5 a.m. Grab a bagel with your favorite shmear and a large cup of coffee to get the energy you’ll need to power through the day.


Christiana Mall, off I-95’s Exit 4A opens on Thanksgiving night from 6 p.m. to midnight then reopens Friday morning at 6 a.m. and stays open until 10 p.m. The Christiana Mall has 130 stores including electronic stores including Apple and Microsoft along with brands like Michael Kors and Anthropologie. Pro tip: Find everything for the outdoors lover in your life at Cabela’s, located at the north end of the mall.

Concord Mall on Rt. 202 just south of the Delaware/Pennsylvania border is open from 6 a.m to 10 p.m. on Black Friday. With more than 90 stores including trending brands including Hollister and H&M, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for.

Dining: Unwind at Newark’s Home Grown Café with its made-from-scratch innovative dishes and large beer and specialty cocktail menu.


Breakfast: The name says it all. The House of Coffi opens at 6 a.m. and has an abundance of caffeine-filled options to start the day. Pro tip- Add a delicious pastry to your order like an Apple Cider Donut, fresh from Fifer Orchards!

Shopping: Dover Mall (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) off Rt. 1’s exit 104 is home to approximately 75 shops with stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods, GameStop along with anchor stores like JC Penney, Macy’s and Boscov’s.

Dining: Cap off your day of shopping at Restaurant 55. Known for its old-fashioned burgers with a gourmet flare, you can enjoy your meal with one of three dozen beers.


Breakfast: Fuel up for the day at a local favorite, Surf Bagel (opens at 6:30 a.m.). With two locations in Lewes, it’s an easy stop from which ever direction you’re heading.

Shopping: Tanger Outlets (6 p.m. Thursday to 10 p.m. Friday) has over 150 brand name outlets plus, deals and discounts that happen all through the night beginning on Thanksgiving. Make sure to check their website before shopping for extra deals. Pro tip: in the Seaside outlets (on the north bound side) there is additional parking in the back of the center!

Dining: In the thick of the stretch of Tanger Outlets’ three locations, you’ll find Bluecoast Seafood Grill & Raw Bar, which offers fresh seafood served simply, allowing the local flavors to shine.

For electronics and large ticket items check out state-wide locations for Wal-Mart (Wilmington, New Castle, Middletown, Dover, Camden, Milford, Seaford and Rehoboth), Target (Wilmington, Newark and Dover), and Best Buy (Wilmington, Newark and Dover)  which always have great deals and special hours on Black Friday.

Once you’re worn out from your shopping adventure, stay the night in Delaware and extend your holiday shopping through Small Business Saturday.
