2023 Fourth of July Fireworks in Delaware
From the beach to the big city, Delaware is set to celebrate Independence Day with a barrage of Fourth of July fireworks. Along the way, there’s plenty of fun to be had as each Delaware town celebrates with its own style of fun. So grab your lawn chairs and blankets, pack the cooler and head to these great Delaware destinations for a Fourth of July to remember.
NORTHERN DELAWARE
Wilmington July 4th Celebration (July 4)
Head for Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park for festivities that run from 2 to 10 p.m., with a ton of fun for the kids. The fireworks show gets under way at dusk!
Liberty Day and Fourth of July Fireworks in Newark (July 4)
Folks will be gathering around Tubby Raymond Field at 631 S. College Ave. beginning at around 6 p.m. to catch the big fireworks display over the University of Delaware Athletic Complex. Vendors and entertainment accompany the fun.
Hockessin 4th of July Parade and Fireworks (July 4)
Line up for the “Best 4th of July Parade in Delaware” along Lancaster Pike at 3 p.m., then head for a prime viewing spot for the dusk fireworks (including Swift Park, Piedmont Baseball Fields, Hockessin Library and Artesian Soccer Fields).
Kalmar Nyckel July 4th Free Ship Tours (July 4)
Explore The Tall Ship of Delaware with a free guided deck tour and discover her remarkable story. Fun for fans of all ages (best for ages 3 and above).
Wilmington Blue Rocks Game with Fireworks (July 7)
Officially, this game against the Brooklyn Cyclones will be “Wizardry Night,” with potions, magic and spells in store. But the real blast will be after the game, when the evening will end with a fireworks extravaganza.
CENTRAL DELAWARE
Smyrna-Clayton 4th of July Celebration (July 4)
Start the day cheering the annual parade, then stake your spot before fireworks complete the day at dusk.
First Saturday in the First State: Old Dover Independence Day (July 4)
Welcome Independence Day in old Delaware style! The parade gets under way at 6 p.m., but there are lots of things to do before the show, including tours of the Old State House, and vendors around Legislative Mall. A DJ will keep spirits high as everyone awaits the fireworks at about 9:15.
Fourth of July Program @ First State Heritage Park (July 4)
First State Heritage Park presents July 4th as it was enjoyed in the late 1800s: There will be sack racing, tug o’ war, lawn games, and more!
SOUTHERN DELAWARE
Rehoboth Beach 4th of July Weekend Fireworks (July 2)
The rockets head skyward from the beach near Brooklyn Avenue at around 9:30 on Sunday, but they’ll be visible across town, accompanied by a 10-piece band on the Bandstand (8 p.m.). DART and the Jolly Trolley will provide special service into town.
Lewes Independence Day Celebration (July 4)
Don't miss the decorated boat parade at this full day of festive beach fun, beginning on Second Street with old-fashioned kids’ games from 9 a.m. to noon. Line up along the canal at 1 p.m. for the boat parade, then linger in town for the annual makeshift Doo-Dah Parade (around 5 p.m.). Cap it off with dusk fireworks over the ocean!
Dewey Beach Fireworks (July 4)
The revelry will be well under way at this rockin’ beach town by the time the fireworks go off at around 9:30 p.m. from a barge in Rehoboth Bay.
Bethany Beach Independence Day Celebration (July 4)
Bethany's fireworks have been postponed until Labor Day due to beach replenishment, but there will be plenty of other patriotic activities to enjoy! The parade gets under way at noon, and Mike Hines & The Look will take the stage at 7:30 pm!
Downtown Milton July 4th Festival (July 4)
They’re going to “Bring Mayberry Back to Milton” at this celebration starting at 10 a.m. in Memorial Park. Old-fashioned fun and games are in store for all ages: Dunk tank, sack races, chess matches, water balloon fights, pie-baking contest, bike-decorating contest and a bike parade.
Town of Laurel 4th of July Celebration (July 4)
Head for Market Street Square Park starting at 3 p.m. to enjoy the food vendors, a petting zoo, two live bands, a car show, and a parade. Fireworks get under way at dusk.
Millville Boardwalk’s 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest (July 4)
Before you hit the beach, get your fill at the Millville Boardwalk Hot Dog Eating Contest, starting at noon. If you’re not too full, stop by for some small batch premium homemade ice cream from Agape Creamery.
