Dover DaysDover Days Festival
Blending modern-day fun with a look back at Delaware’s Colonial past, Dover Days Festival offers a chance to celebrate spring’s charms with Maypole Dancing on Dover’s Green, a Civil War-era baseball game, historic wartime encampments, and more than 350 vendors, craft merchants, and food purveyors. This festival also holds the distinction of being held at one of the sites of the nation’s newest National Monument. May 2-4, 2014

Horseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival
Celebrate two of the state’s iconic natural wonders – and enjoy the food, music and games – at the Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival in historic Milton, featuring arts & crafts, boat rides and canoe trips, and nature walks at the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. (late May)

NASCAR racing at the Monster Mile
Dover International Speedway hosts exciting NASCAR Sprint Cup Series action twice annually on the fastest one-mile oval racetrack in the world. When the biggest names in the sport aren’t zipping around the track, you can. Suit up with the team at Monster Racing and get behind the wheel of a genuine stock car while taking on the famous Monster Mile. May 30-June 1, 2014.

Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Spring Sidewalk Sale
Long known as a place for bargains in a state that already boasts a tax-free shopping advantage, Rehoboth Beach and its neighbors dive even deeper into discount mode every spring and fall. This is the right time to visit the resorts’ many shops, ranging from the three Tanger Outlet centers to the unique art galleries that line Rehoboth’s quaint avenues. May 16-18, 2014.

Bug & Bud Festival
Get a true taste of this artsy little town and enjoy dozens of food and craft vendors at the Bug & Bud Festival, a celebration of two of Milford’s most cherished symbols, the ladybug and the tree. There’s entertainment throughout the day, a Ladybug and Tree costume parade, “ladybug decorated” paddle boat rides, children’s games and more. April 26, 2014.

From keg tosses to sumo wrestling, the R2Hop2 Beer and Music Festival puts the emphasis on happy indulgences, including craft beers on tap and live bands on stage. April 26, 2014

Newark's Wine & Dine Downtown
Visitors love Newark for its college-town feel and for its diverse and affordable culinary options, both of which will be the highlight of this year’s Wine and Dine Downtown. Held at a variety of restaurants in the city, the event keeps its focus on the perfect pairing of fine wines with creative food. April 5, 2014.

Winterthur Point to PointWinterthur Point-to-Point
Frequently imitated but never matched, these annual steeplechase horse races echo the state’s well-heeled heritage as home to the DuPont family and their regal estates.
