In Algonquian, the common Indian language of Northeastern tribes, the word Nanticoke is translated from the original Nantaquak meaning the tidewater people or people of the tidewaters. The Nanticoke Powwow will include activities, performances by drummers, singers and dancers, audience participation. Vendors will display authentic Native arts and crafts, jewelry, blankets, clothing, accessories, and food. Come celebrate the history and culture of the Nanticoke Tribe on Sept. 8 and 9.
