The Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is a hugely popular multi-day outdoor marathon of jazz in tribute to the late, great Wilmington native. Presented by the City of Wilmington, the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is the largest free jazz festival on the East Coast. Featuring outstanding performances on the main stage, vendors, food, wine and craft beers for purchase.

  • Jason Moran and the Harlem Hellfighters
  • Clifford Brown Festival Orchestra

Before & during the festival, stop by the Delaware Historical Society to see an eclectic collection of Clifford Brown materials, donated to the Society by Paul Preston Davis. Memorabilia includes original vinyl albums & covers (artwork in their own right); an original pencil drawing by artist Ben Pearce for Mayor James Baker's book "Genuine American Music"; a copy of Nick Catalano's book "Clifford Brown"; and Steven Leech's essay "Secret City of Jazz." Even hear a recording of Brown's nationally televised appearance on the "Soupy Sales Show," a popular TV venue in the 1950s & 60s.
