Sister Act @ Candlelight Theatre

Sister Act, the Tony-nominated musical comedy smash, kicks off our 2023 Season. By the end of the first act's "Take Me to Heaven," we are celebrating the new season.  

When disco-diva and lounge singer, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses her mobster boyfriend commit murder, she runs to the police who place her in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be discovered: a convent! Under the suspicious watch of a rigid Mother Superior, Deloris is assigned to the convent's woeful choir, transforming it into a world-renowned act that soon catches the Vatican’s eye. 

Based on the 1992 hit comedy film of the same name (starring Whoopi Goldberg), this movie-turned-musical features an original score by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) with lyrics by Glen Slater (Little Mermaid, School of Rock).
