  • Boardwalk Trail at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge :

    (Smyrna) - A beloved trail for photographers and bird watchers alike, Bombay Hook’s Boardwalk Trail is one of five walking trails in the wildlife refuge. Follow the raised boardwalk over a quarter mile of marsh to catch a glimpse of Bombay Hook’s migrating birds and wildlife. And while you have your camera ready to capture birds, you can take an insta-worthy photo of the Delaware Discoveries Trail  artwork on display at the entrance pavilion.

  • Bob Trail at Trap Pond State Park :

    (Laurel) - With every change in season Trap Pond is transformed into something new and wonderful. In the winter with the cold air and occasional fresh fallen snow you can walk the Bob Trail with its pondside view and take in the serenity and stillness of the season.

  • Junction Breakwater Trail :

    (Lewes/Rehoboth) - Stretching between Lewes and Rehoboth you’ll find the Junction Breakwater Trail. Perfect for those looking to take in some of Delaware’s coastal scenery by foot or bike. And for craft beer fans it’s the perfect way to move between their favorite breweries, filling growlers, and getting back on the trail without having to take the highway.

  • Mispillion River Greenway :

    (Milford) - Running alongside the Mispillion River and through historic downtown Milford is the Mispillion River Greenway. Grab a coffee from Dolce Bakery & Coffee to warm you make your way through the city parks and riverwalk winding back and forth over the Mispillion. End your stroll downtown with a post walk empanada from My Sister’s Fault, a local favorite.

  • Northern Delaware Greenway Trail :

    (Wilmington) - Connecting Bellevue State Park, Brandywine Park, and the City of Wilmington, the trails of the Northern Delaware Greenway cover a lot of ground making it ideal for hiking, biking, and jogging. Over 10 miles long, the trail is an idyllic showcase of Northern Delaware’s natural beautiful landscape and hiking it in the winter heightens an already truly stunning landscape

  • Battery Park :

    (New Castle) - For those early rise hikers looking to take in the pastel skies of early winter, hiking through Battery Park offers spectacular sunrises over the Delaware River. An oasis for Northern Delaware locals, Battery Park’s shoreline is a relaxing green space where you can get away from the everyday.

  • Prickly Pear Trail at Delaware Seashore State Park :

    (Ocean View) - South of the Indian River Inlet Bridge you’ll find the Prickly Pear Trail. A combination of a packed small stone half mile loop and a longer sandy 2 mile loop, it’s a great trail to escape to with your whole family or your four-footed friends.

  • Nature’s Bounty Trail at Ashland Nature Center :

    (Hockessin) - Blossoming horticulturists, this trail is for you. If you’re looking to learn more about the natural plants and animals found in Delaware and how Native American, early settlers, through today used them for medicines, food, and other uses. You’ll also find one of Delaware’s few remaining covered bridges on the trail as well, a beautiful red contrasted against the soft muted colors of winter.
