Delaware Tourism Office Sports Tourism Incentive Program
The Delaware Tourism Office (DTO) Sports Incentive Program is designed to assist organizations in the operation and/or development of sports events that will generate economic impact for the community.
The requesting organization must provide documentation outlining expected results from the event under consideration. In addition, the applicant will be required to define how the allocated funds will be used, as well as the scope of the event itself. Delaware Tourism Office (DTO) will review the measurement of both the anticipated, as well as the actual, economic impact. Financial resources will not be distributed until after a post event report is provided to DTO.
All organizations, non-profit and for-profit, may apply only if their sports event takes place in Delaware.
A complete application submission must occur at least 90 days prior to the beginning of your event.
It is imperative that the applicant provides a good faith estimate of anticipated economic impact, as evidenced by estimated numbers of participants, spectators, and total hotel room nights. Also, the applicant must define how those estimates were developed. Grossly inflated estimates will result in reduction of, or elimination of, consideration for future allocations.
