  • Participate in a Marathon :

Would you like to get a run in before eating Thanksgiving dinner? Do you wish to give thanks by giving to charity? Fear not, because there are plenty of charitable marathons to participate in! In Northern Delaware, the 45th annual Thanksgiving Day MS Run is a holiday tradition with 10k and 5k runs, a 5k walk and a kiddie fun run. There is even a virtual option for those who can’t attend in person! Turkey Trots can also be found across Delaware, and the Gabby Gobler Run takes place in Central and Southern Delaware.

  • Go on a Shopping Spree :

With thoughts of Thanksgiving come Black Friday sales! Delaware’s tax-free shopping experience means you can find deals and fun at Christiana Mall, Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, Dover Mall, and the Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth. Down South, you can also walk the boardwalks to explore coastal shops and boutiques.

  • Sip & Shop :

Speaking of Black Friday, Dewey Beach’s Sip & Shop is known as Delaware’s premier holiday shopping event held on Black Friday weekend. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Hyatt Place in Dewey Beach, you can support local artists and businesses at this flagship event.

  • Welcome the Winter :

With end of November, December is right around the corner, and so is Christmas! Two days after Thanksgiving, the 59th Annual Wilmington Jaycees Christmas Parade will travel down Market and Kings Streets. Near Wilmington, Winterthur museum begins celebrating Yuletide with traditional decorations. Down South, Schellville is selling tickets for its annual holiday display full of festive lights.

  • Enjoy a Performance :

After dinner, you can enjoy a festive performance. The Queen in Wilmington will be offering a FunksGiving dance event on Nov. 22 and a comedic Black Friday Experience on the 24th. The weekend following Thanksgiving, the Second Street Players will present A Christmas Carol: The Musical in Milford, and the Clear Space Theatre Company in Rehoboth Beach will perform Estella Scrooge.

Whether you are interested in athletic events, festive celebrations or a delicious meal, you can create the perfect Thanksgiving weekend in Delaware!
